Draft legislation amalgamating Myanmar’s two investment laws, the 2012 Foreign Investment Law and the 2013 Investment Rules (Notification 1/2013 and Notification 11/2013), is expected to be introduced in November 2014. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) part of the World Bank Group has been assisting the Government in its efforts to draft the updated legislation. The IFC has announced that a draft of the revised legislation has
already been prepared and that details of a consultation period will be announced shortly. The amalgamated legislation, to be known as the Myanmar Investment Law, could be presented to parliament before the 31 March 2015. (Source: www.mizzima.com, 29 September 2014)
