Anastasia Gordeeva of Charltons  participated in the 4th Myanmar Digital Rights Forum 2020 (MDRF)  held in Yangon on 28-29 February 2020. Anastasia spoke on “Hong Kong as a Smart City” and joined a panel discussion on “Smartening up: Can Myanmar get the balance right between smart and surveillance?” with James Owen of The Asia Foundation, Bijay Karmacharya of UN-Habitat, and Vicky Bowen of Myanmar Centre for Responsible Business.

MDRF is a platform which brings civil society, the tech community, journalists, private sector and the government together to discuss how to better protect people’s rights on the internet and to raise awareness of digital rights issues in Myanmar, relevant regulation and business practice. Over 350 participants attended the forum underlining the interest in the forum’s agenda.

Please find the adapted speech and presentation here and a link to our Hong Kong website here.
